Things-to-do-in-Tampa

As Microsoft Dynamics Users across all industries prepare for what promises to be the largest user group Summit Conference to date, I want to make sure you’ve saved time for some fun! The conference will take up the majority of your stay in Tampa, but if you’re planning to arrive early or have a free evening, there is plenty to do and see in The Big Guava!

FORECAST CALLS FOR SUNSHINE

Let’s start with the weather, which should be darn near perfect! You can expect daytime temperatures to be around 80 degrees with things cooling off to a mild 60 degrees for your evening activities. Allow me to take this opportunity to thank the Powers That Be for selecting such a desirable location for an October getaway!

STROLL ALONG THE BOULEVARD

After a long day spent learning and networking, you’re going to be ready for some fresh air. Luckily for you, Tampa is home to the longest continuous sidewalk in the United States. Take a stroll on Tampa’s Bayshore Boulevard and you’ll be treated to an ocean view on one side and some of Tampa’s most expensive real estate on the other. It’s the perfect backdrop for a casual walk with colleagues and fellow Summit attendees. I highly recommend this!

GO FOR A DRIVE

If you’d rather take to the streets and go for a drive to unwind after a full day, I’ve got just the attraction for you! Allow me to introduce you to the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, a beautiful 4-mile bridge spanning Tampa Bay. Known for its picturesque cable-stayed main span, this bridge is part of Interstate 275 and rises nearly 200 feet above the water at its highest point. You’ve probably seen it in car commercials as the setting is one-of-a-kind! So rev up your engine and cruise on out to one of the best views in Tampa!

IT’S A BIRD… IT’S A PLANE… IT’S A STREETCAR!

Heading out for dinner or a night on the town? Take a break from Lyft and Uber, and catch a ride on one of Tampa’s Streetcars. Tampa’s first electric streetcar lines were built in 1892 and were a part of daily life for workers and families for over 50 years. Today, this revitalized mode of transportation is a fun way to get around the downtown area. Get full details on riding the streetcar system at www.tecolinestreetcar.org.

YOU’RE BOUND TO GET THIRSTY…

Visit Yuengling Brewery. I know what you’re thinking: Yuengling Beer is a staple of the East Coast, not of sunny Florida. But did you know that Yuengling has a location in Tampa in addition to their flagship brewery in Pottsville, Pennsylvania? And let’s be real, who can turn down a FREE tour of “America’s Oldest Brewery”?

“Step out from under the hot Florida sun to discover how the cool, crisp taste of Yuengling is brewed and bottled. Tour the Yuengling brewery in Tampa where "America's Oldest Brewery" uses modern technology to brew fine beer in a time-honored tradition. Sample the Yuengling heritage for yourself at the brewery's biergarten.” - www.yuengling.com

If you’re looking for something a bit more modern, check out a full list of local Tampa breweries here. Cheers!

So there you have it! Be sure to include a few extracurricular activities during your visit to Tampa for Summit, because all work and no play equals a wasted opportunity! We look forward to seeing everyone at Summit—stop by GPUG booth #401 and tell us all about the fun you’re having!
