Often when companies are implementing
We have found that, just as in life, there is not just one road that will take you to your goal. However, there are some sound strategies that you can use to make sure your implementation is headed in the right direction.
Own the product (Dynamics GP) and the implementation. Approach this like it is “your” project, not the vendor’s or the partner’s. Take the time to select and organize your project team. Assign them clear responsibilities and make sure they have adequate time allocated to the project. Get trained on ALL the features of each module you are implementing, not just the features you think you will implement and use. Rather than trying to make customizations to the system, try adopting best practices or work-arounds to get what you need.
Trust Your Partner
Your Dynamics GP partner is not just another vendor; they should truly be your partner in success. It will take time to build trust and develop the relationship, but it is well worth the effort. A good partner will also help you plan well beyond the “Go Live” date. Going Live should not be viewed as the end of the implementation but rather the beginning of the next phase of your partner relationship.
There are many crucial elements to a successful implementation. Dynamics GP is an outstanding product that will help your business immensely. Your organization deserves to have the system set up the best way possible. Finding a good GP partner and taking internal ownership of the project are two key ways you can get yourself on the path to a successful implementation.
