In 2023, we added 17 new or updated features impacting the user interface. We release updates at the end of each quarter. In January 2024, we released version 4.45. Here's a list of favorite features added in 2023.

Some of these new features or updates came directly from our customers' suggestions and requirements, while others were born out of team brainstorming sessions and the fertile minds of our developers.

Our team at Vicinity Software is always interested in our clients' needs. We listen carefully when they talk about their challenges, needs and wants. Some of our favorite features were inspired by customers, and a couple are team favorites that were excited to introduce.

The top five features added to VicinityChem, VicinityFood and VicinityBrew in 2023

You can view each of these features in videos on our YouTube channel. We publish new-release videos at the end of each quarter. View here.

1. Release 4.42 Dynamcs 365 Business Central Available-to-Promise.

Our integration with Microsoft Dynamics 365 BC Cloud-based ERP is now enhanced with an embedded Available to Promise screen in the Vicinity applications. The Available-to-Promise screen presents receipts and demand from the Vicinity solution through scheduled production and firm-planned orders to provide availability forecasts. Planners can anticipate filling orders when their Dynamics 365 BC data is available on their Vicinity screen.

We've enhanced Formula Entry with the ability to perform a cost rollup at the formula level. Also, this added functionality gives you the option to perform cost rollups for any intermediates. Hence, we've introduced two new settings. Now, you can more easily figure out unit costs in a batch.

3. Release 4.44 Copy a batch in Dynamics 365

We've also enhanced Batch Entry with the ability to create a copy or multiple copies of an existing batch. The batch copies will contain the exact procedures, end Items, BOM, additional cost, and QC tests as the original batch. Transactional data will not be copied. In addition, this feature supports the ability to auto-assign or manually assign batch numbers.

4. Release 4.45 Batch-Entry Transactions section enhancement

The Transactions section of Batch Entry is now enhanced with a searchable view option displaying a flattened transaction hierarchy that allows you to filter records based on specific criteria (e.g., Component ID, Date, Lot Number, etc.). This flattened view of the data lets you see the bin and lot details without expanding the transaction record.

The filters allow you to identify specific transactions within multi-transaction batches.

5. Release 4.42 Scheduled MRP on server

Previously, it was possible to schedule the MRP regeneration to run daily or weekly. However, that required leaving a client open to allow the scheduled regeneration to run.

Additionally, it only allowed scheduling for a single time. Now, it's possible to set the MRP Regeneration to run on a schedule (multiple times per day, if necessary) in conjunction with Windows Task Scheduler. And it doesn't require the Vicinity client to stay open.
