The Help Menu in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2013

Microsoft introduced a big change to the Help area of Microsoft Dynamics NAV with the release of Dynamics NAV 2013 R2. Users looking to use Help no longer have to have a locally installed version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV because Help is now located online. The Help can be accessed in all the various client types including the Web and SharePoint client. The main menu on the Help server can also be expanded to include links to additional websites including any third party help sites.

Under the Help menu, users can also access About Dynamics NAV to access the version and build number to look up their license details including license terms.

About This Page gives details about the current selected page including page object, what type of page it is, the source table, and what record you are looking at. Developers and Jet Reports Users often wonder how to find the Page Object and Source Table in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and the About This Page area gives them the data they need. The About This Page gives you information on all the available fields on the current page, including those shown and those that aren’t. Reviewing these fields, you may find some that you didn’t know about and would like to include in your current view. The About This Page is also where you will find the Source Expressions, Flow Filter fields, as well as the URLs for viewing on a Windows client.

The Page Notes feature allows is the ability to embed or link OneNote files with your installation of Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Using this feature anchors an OneNote file to be shown on a specific page or record. Notes can be added to give other users specific instructions, procedures, or reminders. Notes can also be attached on a per record basis to give further details.
