- Labor - The other main goal of Manufacturing Day is to address the demand for a future skilled labor force. According to the Manufacturing Institute (MI), there will be a shortage of around 4.6 million skilled labor jobs in the manufacturing sector by 2028. Consequently, it’s critical for manufacturers to attract and train skilled workers. Manufacturing Day is one effort to get the U.S. workforce excited about the manufacturing sector as an attractive career path.
