One thing that impressed me at Acumatica Summit 2019 was hearing CEO Jon Roskill describe how Acumatica provides and will continue to emphasize, seamless cross-module workflows, where users can move from one module to another during real-life scenarios without even realizing they’re doing it.
In my opinion, Acumatica has a lot of great core technology. There is core CRM, core project account, core field service, and core manufacturing. These are all part of the core Acumatica solution; they are not separate add-on applications that are merely connected.
In some ERP systems, these different areas are silos. If you want to do a project, you can do a project. If you want to do field service, you do field service, but the modules don't interconnect.
What Acumatica says is, "Watch for us to connect these modules at levels that other systems, other ERP vendors, don't."
In other words, you can start in CRM and create an opportunity and have that opportunity automatically create a project framework. Think about the impact of that; from CRM, you basically hit a button, and now you've got the skeleton of a project that's based on an opportunity. That is huge.
Most systems will go from an opportunity to a sales order, that's just common functionality. But Acumatica is also going to allow you to collect costs at a project level even though you're in field service. And vice versa, you can go from a project to field service.
Acumatica is going to continue to build more of that cross-module functionality. For me, that is very exciting.
