Microsoft Dynamics US Industry Summit 2016 – 3 Big Take Aways

As a result of the shift in focus of Microsoft Convergence this year, the team at Nolan Business Solutions decided to look into the opportunity available for ISVs at the Microsoft US Industry Summit. The Industry Summit itself was hosted at the incredible Terranea resort in California. On offer were several deep dive tracks into Financial Services, Manufacturing, Public Sector, Retail, Service Industry, and Wholesale Distribution.

Derek Beaupre, our Channel Manager and I, attended an excellent industry marketing track hosted by Mark Stuyt from Neural Impact based in Vancouver, Canada. He shed light on best marketing best practices for 2016 that can be used to propel each partner in their vertical industry focus. We came back with insight into how to optimize our sales processes and stay continually engaged with our customers. We are already implementing these and are excited to see the results.

The ‘Walk a Mile in a Partner's Shoes’ round table was presented by Jane Dickson, US SMSP CPE Director and attended by high level Microsoft Executive, Lindsay Zwart, Microsoft Dynamics Director . The partners in attendance were surprised to see an executive team who wanted to listen to what the partner ecosystem had to share. Portions of the partner feedback were incorporated into Lindsay Zwart’s closing speech. Lindsay messaged that no partner would be left behind no matter how big or small and that a bigger emphasis would be put on the Dynamics ISV ecosystem.

The next impressive offering was the ‘Women in Leadership’ event that celebrated woman in technology roles. It is an initiative led by Microsoft executives Marietta Davis, VP Microsoft Dynamics and Lindsay Zwart. The lunch was first class and so was the speech by Mariette Davis. The ‘Lean In training’ provided afterwards by women in wireless was exceptional. All the women that attended left feeling energized and connected to a vibrant and strong community.

Would we attend in the future? Yes, as an ISV in the Dynamics community the value is very tangible and we have additional tools we can now use to improve our marketing and energize our sales team.
