A Clear Comparison of Cloud ERP vs On-Premise ERP – With Charts

Since 66% of buyers are purchasing a system for the first time, there are a lot of inexperienced professionals out there about to invest in a deployment model that could ruin their company. One decision that has a big impact is the choice to go with a cloud versus on-premise ERP system. Software Advice has published an article Cloud ERP vs On-Premise ERP that has one of the simplest and clearest comparisons I have seen. Even better, they provide charts.

“Cloud ERP Is Cheaper Up Front, Stable and Easy to Use”

Advantages and disadvantages of cloud-based ERP systems:

“On-Premise ERP Systems Are More Customizable, Offer Greater Control Over Data”

I definitely recommend reading the full SoftwareAdvice.com article.

I agree with the author, Forrest Burnson, when he commented, “There are a lot of advantages and disadvantages to both cloud and on-premise ERP systems. Though the trend is definitely toward the cloud, there are many reasons why an organization might opt to have an on-premise or hybrid deployment. At the end of the day there will always be trade offs regardless of which path you take, so it is critical to determine what key needs you are trying to address when selecting an ERP system. Be sure to get multiple perspectives for your organization and as always, do your homework before selecting a system.”
