Beginning September 2026, Microsoft will no longer be following their wave 1 and 2 release cadence that governed Dynamics 365 releases since inception. Instead, they will move to a continuous release model where capabilities are available as plans are finalized. This change comes at a time of rapid change and advancement across Microsoft products. The impact of AI is driving technological changes faster than before. This adjustment allows Microsoft to release updates based on the increasing pace of change, and also allows users who are using multiple Microsoft business applications to understand the updates coming across their entire portfolio of products through one source.
That source is the , where users have the ability to filter updates by product and environment. to filter and export roadmap views to the products your organization uses, giving you the ability to share those roadmaps directly with stakeholders for internally planning. Updates are also available through RSS feed.

Roadmap items are published as Microsoft is ready to share them. Each capability will then progress through three stages:
- In Development
- Rolling Out
- Launched
What Does This Mean for Business Central Users?
Users can follow those features through their development rather than relying on a static announcement published prior to availability.
Internal teams benefit as they are now able to better evaluate new Microsoft capabilities, features coming that could improve processes, changes that may impact add-on products, and opportunities to replace manual work.
How Will This Affect Business Central Apps and Extensions?
As an ISV,, understands that key changes to how Business Central is developed or release has a ripple effect across the entire Microsoft ecosystem. Many ISVs time their own releases in cadence with BC wave 1 and 2 releases.
“At iSolutions, innovation is driven by the evolving needs of our customers and partners. Instead of tying our development schedule to Microsoft’s release waves, we deliver updates every month, providing meaningful enhancements when our users need them,” said Sabrina Zimara, CMO at iSolutions.
Those releases can include new capabilities, such as AutoPay for recurring payments or MEM integration for National Accounts, performance improvements, usability enhancements, expanded payment options, and updates that maintain compatibility with Business Central.
“While Microsoft provides the underlying business application platform, we extend the solution with specialized AR and payment functionality that fills a critical gap in the solution. Both solutions must continue to evolve for customers to continue to receive the experience that meets not only their needs today, but in the future,” said Zimara.
A Business Central-Native Approach to Innovation
iPayments is embedded within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, meaning users have one system to manage their entire financial process. Because of the direct connection, data is not synced, but lives in real-time within the single solution. also pulls data directly from Business Central so customers can access their invoices, shipping information, history, account information and more in real-time.
“Because these functions are so closely tied to Business Central, our development team must remain aligned with changes coming from Microsoft. Our monthly releases help us maintain that alignment and ensure our users a seamless experience,” said Zimara.
