Customer Success Story: Streamline AquaticsRead how a successful commercial pool supplies and equipment company met its challenges with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Western Computer.

Streamline Aquatics is a provider of high-quality commercial aquatics supplies and equipment.  The company works with aquatic designers and architects throughout New England and the Mid-Atlantic states to deliver pool equipment, chemicals, and services. They have assisted with the construction and maintenance needs of commercial pools for resorts, water parks, country clubs, schools, hotels, swim clubs, etc. With an experienced team, innovative thinking, and strong relationships with the pool industry's leading manufacturers and distributors, Streamline Aquatics is the East Coast's choice for exceptional aquatics products and services. They have been very successful but had some concerns going forward.

The Challenge

Since 2020, Streamline Aquatics' revenue has increased threefold, and its growth demanded upgrades. The company previously used an on-premises QuickBooks accounting system, which presented challenges. Their distributed sales teams couldn't access real-time visibility into inventory availability. They were constantly having to call the office to inquire about specific items. That significantly slowed the sales process.

As the company grew, so did the number of products they carried. They needed a way to track inventory costs and measure profit margins. With their legacy system, that required a great deal of manual effort. With their sights on future growth, they needed more efficient and automated processes to handle customer orders, vendor purchase orders, and warehouse activities. They wanted a robust cloud-based ERP solution to expand their sales territory nationally. They consulted with Western Computer and chose Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (BC).

The Solution: Quickbooks Migration to Microsoft Dynamics 365 BC

Streamline Aquatics chose Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Cloud after also considering Oracle NetSuite and a Salesforce solution. They discovered that the cost of Dynamics 365 BC was lower. Business Central also allows adding or subtracting user licenses as the number of employees changes seasonally. That saves money too.

Streamline Aquatics found Business Central easier to configure to their unique workflows. NetSuite and Salesforce would have required much more work to set up and maintain over time.

The owners of Streamline Aquatics also vetted three Microsoft partners that ranked high in online research to design, deploy, and support the Dynamics 365 Business Central Cloud solution. Western Computer emerged as the best fit for the company's culture.

The Benefits of Dynamics 365 BC and Western Computer

After understanding Streamline Aquatics' ERP needs and configuring Business Central to meet their requirements, Western Computer demonstrated its flexible and collaborative approach by pausing the project during the spring and summer of 2023. This allowed Streamline Aquatics to avoid business disruptions during its busy season. The team from Western Computer then deployed the solution in the Cloud and transferred all the QuickBooks data so their client could begin using Business Central at the beginning of 2024.

Now, the sales team has real-time visibility into inventory availability. When visiting customer sites or taking customer calls, they can submit sales orders for immediate fulfillment because they know which products are in stock or can inform customers when back-ordered products will be available.

Managing the supply chain is also easier. Business Central helps employees identify when they're running low on warehouse items so they can restock promptly. They've streamlined sales orders by providing real-time visibility into inventory status.

Business Central has also streamlined the coordination of product drop shipments that go directly from vendors to customers. This is a crucial benefit since Streamline Aquatics actively partners with approximately 200 vendors and has access to nearly 1,000 vendors offering over 100,000 products.

When a company triples its sales in three years and needs to track many vendors and customers, a scalable ERP platform with enterprise features like Dynamics 365 Business Central Cloud is necessary.

An Ongoing Partnership with Western Computer

Along with implementing Dynamics 365 Business Central Cloud, Streamline Aquatics opted to keep the partnership going by tapping into Western Computer's Managed Support Services. In addition to locked-in and predictable support costs, Streamline Aquatics benefits from Dynamics 365 feature and roadmap advisory services, upgrade management with Microsoft's bi-annual updates for Business Central, and break/fix incident support meeting SLA criteria.

The team at Streamline Aquatics is confident that their partnership with Western Computer and the deployment of Dynamics 365 Business Central Cloud will contribute to their ongoing success.
