Dynamics GP to Business Central

We understand that transitioning to a new ERP solution can be overwhelming. So, we have highlighted the most compelling reasons to move to Dynamics 365 Business Central from Dynamics GP:

  1. A True Cloud Solution: Since its release, Business Central has been reaching new heights in the cloud accounting ERP market for SMB’s. It is a modern, cloud-based solution accessible from any device 365/24/7. You can just download the App from the Windows store, Apple store or Google play to your desired device for processing on-the-move.
  2. Next Generation: Business Central has a modern, intuitive, role-based user interface which is easy to customize without the need for expensive development. You can also easily personalize any screen in Business Central to enhance your efficiency.
  3. Stability: With real-time processing in a true cloud solution, Business Central doesn’t experience the regular Batch posting issues often seen with Dynamics GP. This means less time spent correcting data integrity issues, lower IT and support costs and greater user satisfaction!
  4. Powerful Analytics: Analyzing data by multiple segments in Dynamics GP can equate to hundreds of thousands of GL Account codes. In Business Central, Dimensions overcome this issue and enable you to analyze data only where you need to without the need to create surplus GL Account codes.
  5. Export Data on Demand: Business Central allows data to be exported to excel for both viewing AND editing (where appropriate) without the need to create SmartLists by going into separate application or partner system.
  6. Seamless Integration: Built on the NAV platform, Business Central is part of the Microsoft Dynamics family. It is fully integrated with Office 365 and leverages the capabilities of Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and most importantly - the Microsoft Power Platform. You can make the most of your investment in Microsoft products.
  7. Ongoing Product Investment: The focus of investment from Microsoft is in their cloud offerings. Typically, Business Central has two major releases every year containing many new features and enhancements.
  8. Scalability: Business Central is fully scalable and priced on a per user per month basis. You can easily flex up or down based on your specific business requirements or as your requirements change.
  9. Migration Enabled: An automated data migration tool exists which can significantly reduce the cost of migration from Dynamics GP to Business Central. The tool can be configured to move not only standing or master data, but historical transactional data as well.
  10. Free Upgrades: No more costly upgrades! Business Central is upgraded automatically and there is no additional license cost meaning an excellent return on investment.

Here at Tensoft, we strongly believe that the benefits above outweigh the short-term discomfort of transitioning to a new accounting and financial solution. We did not make the decision to begin offering Dynamics Business Central lightly. We wanted to be sure that it was a solid improvement for our existing Dynamics GP customers, some of whom had been with us since before Microsoft acquired Great Plains (the original product developer). And, we wanted to be sure that the transition process went as smoothly as possible.
As one of the earliest Microsoft Partners to start transitioning our practice and our customers to Dynamics 365 Business Central, we needed to be able to deliver an upgrade to our customers, not just a change. We had been closely following Microsoft’s plans for releasing a true cloud solution, but we waited to fully commit until we could be sure. When we learned that the new Microsoft solution would be the cloud version of “full” Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision), we were convinced. We took our first customer live on the new solution in October 2017 and have successfully implemented Business Central for dozens of customers since then.
