What's new in Business Central wave 2 2022

Dynamics 365 Business Central has numerous changes and new features compared to predecessor ERPs such as Dynamics NAV / Navision. Below are the most important new capabilities included in the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central wave 2 2022 update.

Application management improvements

Let's start with administration improvements that have a direct impact on your ERP usage.

  • Restore deleted environments
  • Get more visibility into outages
  • Permissions improvements

If you work with multiple companies in Business Central, switching from one company to another has until now been cumbersome. This version introduces the Company Switcher.

Company indicator

There are some companies that have this small colored square, it is the new company indicator, which presents improvements.
We show you how to configure it. On the company information page and below you have the configuration options for the company badge, where you can customize it in color and text.

Search company data

A window that will become one of your favorites. At the moment we find it under the name of Search, although it will surely be updated shortly with the translation. We could also open it with the keyboard command Ctrl+Alt+F.

Bank Reconciliation Improvements

One of the financial features that we like the most is bank reconciliation, let's see what improvements the release of Business Central wave 2 2022 brings us.

  • When you assign a bank posting group to an account that has direct records, a prompt will appear.
  • Another of the mini-improvements in reconciliation can be found in the test report. This test report has been modified to incorporate the Account Balance on the statement date. And now they match, but if it had been on another date, it would also indicate the balance on another date.
  • On the other hand, the matching rules have also been improved when you work with checks.
  • You also get a slight improvement when you work with reversed entries.

Reverse Payment Reconciliation Journal Entries

The novelty is that you can configure the journal to use a specific series of numbers, so it will be easier to identify the movements that were recorded through the journal.

Use multiple shipping addresses for vendors

A new functionality has been added in providers, which allows us to indicate several sender addresses for payments.

Financial reports replace account schedules

The new financial reports replace the account schedules. So, if you are working with the account schemes, from now on you will have to look for them under this name: financial reports.

New VAT Date field in documents and entries

A new VAT Date field has been added to purchase and sales documents, as well as journals. This field is intended for those declarations in which it is necessary to indicate a date that is different from that of the document record.

Extended text functionality for VAT clauses

In the first place, the fields have been extended to 250 characters and the second is that we will additionally have the possibility of adding extended text, if necessary. This text can be seen printed on purchase and sales reports.

Using multiple posting groups for customer or vendor

Until now, we have assigned a customer or supplier to a customer/supplier accounting group to assign customer accounts. This feature enables customer and supplier accounting groups to be associated with other customer and supplier accounting groups.

Make entry of variant codes mandatory

To avoid data entry errors when working with items that have variants, you will now be able to require users to mandatorily specify the variant in documents and journals.

Search Posted and Unposted Document Lines

Added many options to search document lines and registered documents. For example, we can search for Hist. lines. purchase invoices, Hist. lines. albs. buy, Hist. lines. purchase credits, Hist. lines. sales invoices, Hist. lines. albs. Sales and Hist. lines. sales credit notes.

Set up OneDrive integration

With the 2022 release 2, admins can easily determine which OneDrive-related features are turned on for Business Central, so people can collaborate on business documents and work with other files in the browser.

Power Apps and Power Automate support for document attachments

Other improvements presented by the Business Central connector for the Power Platform. Opens the ability to access attachments (for example, an original purchase requisition linked as a PDF to a sales order), related record media (for example, images linked to items), and other data linked to business records.

Do you know Office 365, Microsoft Power BI and AzureNow you have them unified through the new Microsoft solution, taking advantage of all the synergies between the different Microsoft products, if the automation and performance optimization are at an optimal level.

This is the new platform that will transform the way you work: Applications powered by the cloud, data and Artificial intelligence. You will be able to continue expanding it through the development of extensions or apps, now improved by Microsoft to give you greater control of your business.

Dynamics Square puts this collection of technologies at your fingertips to propel you into the era of Digital Transformation. Welcome to the new generation of Navision.
