Upcoming enhancements and new features were recently announced for the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central 2022 release wave 1. Rolling out starting in April, these new features will touch upon everything from development tools to integrations to improve the productivity and efficiency of SMBs. We’re very excited to see them in action, but in the meantime, here are our top 5 new Business Central features!

Feature #1: Use Excel to design layouts for reports

You will now be able to use Excel capabilities such as sliders, diagrams, charts, and pivot tables to create and modify the layout of your reports. Afterwards, users can simply save their layouts again in Business Central.

Feature #2: New capabilities for financial reporting with account schedules

Account schedules are the main tool to create financial reports in Business Central, and this new version will facilitate the presentation and generation of reports with new capabilities. Users will now be able to display their reports in the desired layout to identify them easily and find the data they need at a glance.

Feature #3: Add email attachments to Business Central from Outlook

This Outlook add-on lets you download attachments received by email to Business Central. Invoices, Excel spreadsheets, and other documents can be added to Business Central records without having to leave Outlook, ensuring you never lose track of documents sent by clients.

Feature #4: Allow the sell-to and bill-to customers to be different for jobs

This new feature will facilitate project management in Business Central by letting project managers specify which client will benefit from a project and which client will pay for it. They will also be able to specify where the work will take place, add information on external references, and replace standard financial terms for the project in question.

Feature #5: Check documents and journals while you work

By enabling this feature, Business Central will validate the data entered into documents and journals while you work to prevent posting issues even before they arise. Visual indicators will notify users of any potential issues, which will improve their productivity, reduce the risk of errors, and save time.

Microsoft is committed to providing SMBs with products and tools that are user-friendly and efficient. JOVACO is looking forward to seeing these features in action, and we’re certain they will help our clients increase their productivity.
