This Leading Online Weather and News Provider Got Management of Legal Documents Under Control with the Microsoft Power Platform

Note: While this blog post doesn’t deal directly with Dynamics 365 ERP, it does focus on what the Microsoft Power Platform can do when it comes to document management. In this sense, it’s relevant for businesses using a variety of CRM and ERP software solutions.

AKA Enterprise Solutions works with a wide range of clients across a number of industries. When one of our partners comes to us with a challenge they’re facing, we do everything we can to develop and implement a solution that meets their needs within their budget.

One such client focuses on providing online weather information to billions of users all across the globe. They serve more than 180,000 third-party websites with essential weather data, and also work with large international businesses.

Given this kind of scope, our client has to manage a large number of legal documents and partner contracts. Over time, their sales and legal teams found themselves working with unnecessarily complex and outdated approaches to document management, resulting in a lengthy sales cycle.

If you work in sales, you know how important it is to cut down the length of the sales cycle wherever possible. It’s essential for facilitating growth and ensuring that your organization stays competitive. Our partner organization needed a document management solution that could speed up the sales cycle, and AKA Enterprise Solutions delivered.

A Shorter Sales Cycle with the Microsoft Power Platform

Using the Microsoft Power Platform, AKA Enterprise Solutions was able to develop a custom Power App for our client that could easily integrate with their existing software, including Dynamics 365, SharePoint, and Teams. The app we designed could be used on both mobile and desktop, making it easier than ever for their sales team to manage contracts and stay in touch with customers. At the same time, our client’s legal team could now keep up with contracts, ensuring that nothing falls through the cracks.

The result? Their sales team is now closing deals at a rapid pace, and things are running smoother than ever before.

How Does the Power Platform Work?

The Microsoft Power Platform is comprised of three different tools: Power Apps, Power BI, and Power Automate (previously known as Microsoft Flow). Microsoft designed these tools with one primary goal in mind: to make it easier than ever for businesses to build custom apps and manage their data. Each of the Power Platform components can work on its own -- but when combined, they empower organizations to develop custom solutions affordably and efficiently.

Much of the Power Platform’s success is due to the fact that it’s built on the Common Data Service for Apps (CDS), a secure database in Azure Cloud. Thanks to the unified data schema provided by the CDS, apps built with the Power Platform can be easily integrated with third party applications. And, of course, Power Platform apps also integrate seamlessly with Microsoft applications such as Office 365, Dynamics 365 ERP, and more.

Businesses often worry that integrating new apps into their existing system will involve making complicated changes to the software they’re already using. But with the Power Platform, apps can be built around a company’s existing system. This means less downtime and a smoother transition to newer, more efficient processes.
