Good news... Microsoft has released the 2018 updates for GP's payroll tax tables. You are going to want to perform these updates, and you may be interested in some guidance through the (relatively simple) steps involved. With that in mind, we put together a handy guide. This guide is available as a free download (with screenshots) on the CSSI website.

Let's get started!

  1. Be sure that all your users have logged out of GP. (Wondering how to take a GP company offline to ensure that no users are active? Check out our article and free download on taking GP offline.)
  2. Next, you will log in to GP as the ‘sa’ user
  3. Navigate to Microsoft Dynamics GP > Maintenance > U.S. Payroll Updates > Check for Tax Updates
  4. Now select the 'Automatic' method. Click 'Next'.
  5. Next, enter your Authorization Number. This will be your CustomerSource 'Authorized number', and will typically be your phone # (including the area code, with no punctuation). Click on Login.
  6. The tax tables will proceed to update. You should click 'Finish' once the updates have been successfully applied.
  7. If you wish, you can verify that you have the latest tax update by going to Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools > Setup > System > Payroll Tax. The “Last Tax Update” field should have the date of 1/19/18.
