Because there are so
This study discusses the results of a survey conducted with over 2000 respondents from 61 countries who have selected or implemented either SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics® ERP solutions between February 2006 and May 2012. While there are deficiencies in the study, there is some helpful information to consider when choosing an ERP solution.
It may not come as too much of a surprise that SAP takes the lead in market share and making the short-list with companies looking for an ERP software solution. Oracle also beats out Microsoft Dynamics on the short list by having a slightly larger market share. However, where SAP and Oracle lose traction,
The study suggests that the reasons behind the discrepancies are likely related to the complexity of the businesses making these choices. Larger companies with multiple locations or operations are likely to have longer implementation phases due to the complexity and the number of people that may be involved in the early phases. The study also shows that Microsoft Dynamics tends to attract smaller projects which explain the faster implementation schedule and higher success rates. Panorama Consulting Solutions does point out that there are insufficiencies in this study and there is much that a business should discuss with potential software vendors before choosing an ERP software solution.
