The requirements of your business are unique and you need to make sure they are completely clear to everyone within your company before you select your ERP software solution. Check with all departments to gather their wish lists in an ERP solution.
2. Budget: You also wouldn’t buy a $50,000 car if you only have budget for $20,000, so why would you buy a solution that you know is out of your reach? This is important to get figured out early so you’re not sent down a path of disappointment.
3. Software Vendor: The software vendor relationship should be of high importance. Communicate. Communicate. Communicate once you’ve chosen your partner as they are the key to successful implementations. You may have never been through an implementation before, while software vendors have experience and may even have established best practices to ensure you stay on budget and on time.
4. Timeline: Some companies have a vague date in mind that they would like their software solution up and running but they fail to realize the various stages of software implementation. There is the business assessment, transferring of data, customization of software, integration with current systems, installation, training, and continual upgrades. It’s a much longer process than you think, but for good reason.
