Cloud computing can mean quite a few things and it is still a confusing concept to many.  The reasons that cloud computing is becoming so popular now is that it provides flexibility, scalability, and affordability to software implementations.  As companies become more globally-focused and business professionals move from client offices to job-sites, the ability to access data from remote locations is critical to keeping the workflow moving.  Cloud computing offers improved communication between the office and its remote employees, allowing staff to accomplish more while out of the office.  Cloud computing can also greatly reduce IT costs in the form of lower equipment and maintenance fees and increased ability to manage administrative overheads.  In addition, businesses can control IT costs with pay-as-you-go programs where you only pay for what you use.

Cloud deployment can include a single tenant or multi-tenant system.  With single tenant systems, you can customize software to fit your unique business operations.  Often, your Partner can protect your customizations with future upgrades.  With multi-tenant systems, there is some additional efficiency and affordability, but you lose the ability for customizations because the system is shared by many users.  Although your data is securely segregated from one another, the ability to customize or make changes to the software can affect the rest of the tenants.

The scalability and flexibility of the different cloud-computing deployment options will allow you to find the right fit for your business model.  To determine how cloud-computing can make your operations more efficient and can improve your IT bottom line, contact BDO Solutions.
