Dynamics GP 2010 R2 and the Business Analyzer

There are often financial information “consumers” in companies that have no interest in the actual financial application. These users just need to see some data that was captured by the application. Logging into the application just to run a couple of reports can get old fast, not to mention we may be “taking up” a login that another data entry person may need.

Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 R2 allows these users to get to the information with the new Business Analyzer feature. The Business Analyzer allows financial managers to gain access to the data without forcing them to log into the application.  The Business Analyzer can be installed on a workstation without even installing the Dynamics GP 2010 R2 client.

The Business Analyzer install includes many reports with the default install.  But the really nice thing is that additional reports can be created using SQL Server Reporting Services. So not only does the Business Analyzer take away the need to log into Dynamics GP 2010 R2 to run some reports, but it leverages the currently existing SSRS technology to allow us to add new reports to the display.

And wait, that’s not all. Not only can the user run reports from outside the application, but the Business Analyzer also installs with the Dynamics GP 2010 R2 client, so any of those nice SSRS reports that you created can be shared with all of the other users.  This allows us to create reports and give users access to data both inside and outside of Dynamics GP 2010 R2.  If you have any questions, or would like to know more, feel free to contact us at our offices in Greensboro, NC.
