What It’s Like to Make the Move to the Acumatica Cloud

Email | Print

Have you considered moving from a legacy Microsoft Dynamics ERP system to a solution that is Cloud based? I made the move a while back and I thought you might like to hear about my experience and impressions.

The biggest difference is that while your old system may have resided on premises and required a staff to maintain it, cloud applications are internet based and much of the technology and security are cared for by skilled professionals. Having information in the cloud means that you can access it from anywhere at any time. But those are not the only advantages.

Recently, I joined the NexVue family and was immediately immersed in a Cloud-based product called Acumatica.  Naturally, I wanted to learn and understand the foundation of the software and all it was capable of. Right away I was given access to the Acumatica Cloud ERP partner portal which is a rich depository of knowledge.  Inside the partner portal, the Acumatica University allows me to download manuals for online classes about the product.

Acumatica Cloud ERP Accessed from Browser

As soon as I opened my first Acumatica PDF manual I made the jump from an on-premise software product to a Cloud-based product. I accessed my software through my browser. No separate programs to open, no desktop icons. My browser is always open and my software is always available. I just have to navigate to my Acumactica address and enter my credentials. My home page opens and I see a much cleaner layout than that of the Dynamics products that I had been using. Poking around inside the software, exploring the navigation bars and trying to understand how the Acumatica structure works, I quickly realized that following the practice examples inside my user manual was going to lead to my quickest success. I also am able to follow along with Acumactica training videos on Vimeo.

So far, I’m loving it. This is my first post about moving to Acumatica Cloud ERP, but it won’t be the last. In subsequent posts I’ll talk about my learning challenges, the software’s flexibility and my client experiences. Watch this space and come along on my journey of discovery. Perhaps the lessons I learn will benefit you in your move to the Cloud.
